On November 14, TDOC hosted a meeting regarding the accommodation of 2009 Taipei Deaflymipcs. More than twenty well-known Taipei hotels participated.
The purpose of the meeting was for hotel industry to learn about Deaflympics and the scale of 2009 Taipei Deaflympics. More than twenty large reputable hotels in Taipei metropolitan area were invited, including Grand Formosa Regent Taipei, Sheraton Taipei Hotel, The Grand Hotel, Howard Hotel, Ambassador Hotel, Shangri-La’s Far Eastern Plaza Hotel Taipei, The Caesarpark Taipei, Hotel Royal Taipei, City Crown Hotel Taipei, Brother Hotel, Gloria Hotel, United Hotel, Golden China Hotel, The Tango Taipei Xin Yi, Baguio Hotel, Charming Hotel, Welcome Hotel, DongHwa Hotel, KDM hotel, Seasons Hotel, and Miramar Garden Taipei.
TDOC CEO Dr. Kuo-Jui LIN briefly introduced Deaflympics in his opening speech and emphasized how an important role accommodation plays at a successful international sports event. He thanked the hotel industry’s interest and looked forward to working together to ensure the success of the 2009 Taipei Deaflympics. Logistics Division manager Mr. Chih-He CHEN, also the President of Chinese Taipei Sports Associations of the Deaf, described how the Deaflympics differs from the Olympic Games. Instead of an athlete village, Deaflymipcs usually cooperates with hotel industry of the hosting city to provide accommodations. Besides hoping to bring commercial benefits to Taipei city, it also aims to show Taiwanese people’s hospitality and kindness. |
