There is only one month to go for the “2007 Taipei 101 Run Up.” The press conference was held at the lobby of Taipei 101 Building on October 25 and online registration has also started.
1500 people have registered for the “Challenger Group,” comparing to 1000 people last year. For the “Professional Group,” exactly 101 athletes from the world will be competing for the first prize of NT $200,000. It is estimated that the winner should take less than 10 minutes to finish the 91 floor run-up.
Taipei 101 Run Up is hosted by Taipei City Government, the 2009 Taipei Deaflympic Organizing Committee (TDOC) and Taipei 101. For years, “Taipei 101 Run Up” donated revenues to charity groups. There is no exception this year. The revenue of “2007 Taipei 101 Run Up” will be made to TDOC.
The President of the Chinese Taipei Sports Association of the Deaf, Chih-Ho CHEN, and the Managing Director of TDOC, Emile C.J. Sheng attended the press conference. “Chinese Taipei Deaflympics team have won numerous medals in many international sports events this year. As the slogan of 2007 World Deaf Swimming Championships says, “swim to the top of the world,” let’s run to the top of the world together in “2007 Taipei 101 Run Up,” Mr. Chih-Ho CHEN called in sign language. He also expressed heartfelt appreciation to Taipei 101’s kind donation.
Also made presence at the press conference are the “prince and princess of deaf athletics team,” Ching-Lung AN and Lan-Feng CHEN. Chinese Taipei Deaflympics team will have 20 athletes to take part in “2007 Taipei 101 Run Up.”
Taipei 101 Building is going to be a must-see spot for the athletes of 2009 Taipei Deaflympics. It is hoped that the expected 3600 athletes of 80 countries will see the wonder of Taipei 101 Building and feel at the top of the world. |
