The 2nd World Deaf Badminton Championship took place at Mulheim/Ruhl in Germany on September 29. Twenty one countries entered the competitions. After several days of battle, the Chinese Taipei Badminton Team was listed as the strongest eight. Upon the loss to Russia, the Chinese Taipei team finished in fifth place. They will continue in the singles matches.
At the preliminary, the Chinese Taipei Team was in Group D with Japan, Switzerland, and Ireland. Chinese Taipei was defeated by Japan and Switzerland, but won over the Irish at 5:0. In the end, Chinese Taipei had two more wins than Switzerland and Ireland, thus entered the group of the strongest eight teams.
The Chinese Taipei Badminton Team was the “black horse” at the Championships, surprisingly made to the top 8, though they lost the first game to Russia. The Russians’ speed and explosive power were impressive. Chinese Taipei unfortunately lost at 1:4.
Russian Team brought Chinese Taipei’s miracle to an end, however Chinese Taipe’s vigor and confidence never waned. We are looking forward to more good news from later singles and doubles matches.
