Displaying T2009 promotion video at the WASLI Congress in Spain, and it caught everyone’s eyes.

It was the third day of WASLI(World Association of Sign Language Interpreter) Congress, the Taiwanese Representative—Chiu, Chin-Chih, Deputy CEO of 21^st Summer Deaflympics Organising Committee made a presentation about the present condition of Sign Language Interpreting in Taiwan and 21^st summer Deaflympics in front of nearly 200 representatives from all over the world. Her presentation won the loudest applause during WASLI meeting.

The Delegation of 21^st Summer Deaflympics 2009 Taipei attended WASLI Congress in Spain for international promotion and recruited people for international sign language interpreters. WASLI Congress is a grand occasion for interpreters of international sign language from everywhere in the world to exchange their ideas and experiences. At the Congress, the embers reported the situation of interpreters in their countries by turns. Taiwan was not allowed to give a presentation because there is no association of sign language interpreter in Taiwan. However, after striving to the authority of the Congress by Chiu, they finally agreed the Taiwanese to go on the stage for promotion.

The presentation was made by Chiu with Taiwanese sign language. When Lin, Chi-Sen one of the Delegation used English interpreting for her, the local interpreter used international sign language. The focus of Chiu’s presentation did not only include introducing Taiwan and promoting Deaflympics, but also invited the attendees to assist sign language interpreting during 2009 Summer Deaflympics in Taiwan.

T2009 Delegation introduced Deaflympics with T2009 promotion video to break the tedious atmosphere at the Congress. The beauty of Taipei had won high praise and loudest applause from the attendees. The attendees also expressed both their admiration to Chiu and supports to T2009 Summer Deaflympics.
